Meditation
Originally posted on November 22, 2005. Between October 2005 and basically August of 2006, I didn’t put a lot of effort into my blog. I was blogged out after the first few months of blogging at a silly pace and I was dating my (now) wife during that time, and engaged for almost all of it, so something had to give in my free time. There were a few coherent posts, some of which I’m reposting for posterity’s sake.

A verse I've been studying & meditating on...

Micah 6 :8 - He has told you, O man, what is good; And what does the LORD require of you but to do justice, to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?

I'll be posting some thoughts on this verse tomorrow. I did a brief study of the original Hebrew here and what I learned spoke to me. More on why tomorrow.

He has told you, O man, what is good...
Good - of benefit... He has shown us what is of benefit to us

And what does the LORD require of you but...
require - seek from you... and what does the LORD seek from us but

to do justice...
do justice - a verb - do, accomplish make what is right, what is just... to do the right thing

to love kindness...
love - human love for a human object
kindness - goodness, kindness, faithfulness... to love being kind & good to other people

and to walk humbly with your God...
walk - go, walk, come, proceed, move
humbly - caused to be humble... to let God's will become your will, to walk with God in a way that says "you are God and I am not."

He has told you, O man, what is of benefit to you, and what does the LORD seek from you but to do the right thing, to love being kind & good to other people and to let God's will become your will, to humble yourself as you walk side by side with God through life.
